Yuffie and Vincent

It’s no surprise that after Chaos and Omega returned to the Planet, Yuffie silently pronounced Vincent’s name during the end credits of Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus. Admit it, Lucrecia Crescent will be forever entombed inside that icy prison and there will be no follow-up to this incident. Not by a long shot and, if I’m going to concoct a fan fiction here, I’m voting for a Yuffie-Vincent love-a-palooza

Yuffie Kisaragi, a mischievous ninja from Wutai slash Materia thief, became an important character in Dirge of Cerberus because she assisted Vincent from his quest to vanquish the remnants of DeepGround and forever restore peace. Knowing Vincent Valentine, he’s not the romantic type and Yuffie maybe as well too; she’d rather purloin Materia than get involved in made-up relationships, very trivial indeed.

If Final Fantasy is home to stoic ladies of combat then, you could never count some of the franchise’s jumpy yet fine specimens of FF fanboyism. These girls erupt with energy and could not be contained even by a mature core worried that their world could not make it because of an impending doom – such ignorance and bliss give these Final Fantasy girls something to do: annoy, infuriate and dispel serious situations with comic relief or memorable mannerisms that questions their value of femininity.

Here is a list of the franchise’s bouncy Final Fantasy girls remembered for their quirkiness and unrelenting stance towards danger, which they completely ignore in exchange of happiness and attention.

4. Eiko Carol (Final Fantasy IX) – A surviving member of the Tribe of Summoners in Madain Sari, this six-year-girl happens to be a powerful summoner and an annoying pain-in-the-butt which, Zidane completely tolerates. Because of her age, she always gets the cold shoulder from Zidane but, her feistiness along with her somewhat mature thinking gives her the edge against more serious characters like Amarant Coral, which he admittedly despise from the beginning.

3. Selphie Tilmitt (Final Fantasy VIII) – Childish and hyper-active best describes Selphie, she is a reminder why Squall and the others allow her to speak in cutesy because of her talents to use a nunchaku and disarm missiles from enemy bases. Though her use in battle is quite limited, Selphie is a very fun character around as her prancing, silly gyrations and weird semantics resonate around cut scenes, which she is fondly remembered of. She’s also got this humor which the party considers as offending and clout-less – that’s Selphie for ya!

2. Rikku (Final Fantasy X and X-2) – Born as an Al-Bhed, her alchemy and knowledge of machines transcend those of any native of Spira; dangerous concoctions mixed to explode once hurled are one of Rikku’s contribution but, her childish notions is more of a memory than an aid to Tidus and the rest. Rikku is very outspoken and is considered as the group’s cheerleader and ironically, Tidus should have been given the role because he can play ball and can cast Cheer. Anyway, Rikku is a mild-mannered girl with a very sexy facade which is obviously over-shadowed because of her immature antics.

1. Yuffie Kisaragi (Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core and Final Fantasy VII Dirge of Cerberus) – Pesky and quirky is an under-statement for Yuffie as, mere adjectives related to annoyance far describes this Wutai ninja. Her acquisition in Final Fantasy VII is a testament to her aptitude to create headaches both for the party and player – once beaten in battle, she ferrets out of the forest when the player triggers a wrong conversation response or hits the Save Point nearby and, she also steals all your Materia during a scene where you have to follow her all the way from Wutai. Yuffie has annoyed the likes of Cloud, Zack during those treasure frontier quests and even Vincent Valentine – she’s a conniving ninja with a penchant for mischief and deceit, you truly deserve this spot.

This video cranks me up – no matter how solid the Tifa/Cloud pairing gig is, there’s nothing on the world of Final Fantasy that could trump this alternate date version of the golden-haired emo boy and the murdered Ancient remnant.

Yuffie and Vincent gets a romantic shot inside a cable car in of Final Fantasy parody’s most priceless video. Yuffie called the guy ‘Vinnie’ and this nickname wasn’t even mentioned from the original Final Fantasy VII, retro comedy (as if this was shown) at its best. The fan-made video also shows a very nervous Vincent who “craves for his coffin” after being dragged by the Wutai ninja to go on a date across the picturesque views of the sparkling gambling site.

Enjoy this short moment of my two most favorite Final Fantasy VII characters.
