Of all the things I enjoy about Final Fantasy is its ability to create concepts out of something that already exists (or developed as part of man’s primordial understanding of his understanding) in this world. Cactuar was based on cacti, Shiva is the Hindu’s God of Destruction and airships are, well, basically complicated aerial transports that look exactly like “airplanes.”
You just have to spot all of these gaming transgressions and put them into perspective – some religious parties are head over heels over Final Fantasy X’s religious depiction of pyreflies and don’t get me started on talking about eidolons. The controversial inclusion of Yevon defied the meaning of religious worship – an uprising caused Tidus and party to rid Spira of this tick-like enigma whose task is to create a new version of Sin whenever a successful Final Summoning ritual takes place.
