I just received three deviations from Final Fantasy girls staple, Remorsefulpromises and this time, she’s decided to become Final Fantasy X-2‘s sweetheart, Yuna.

Once a devout follower of Yevon, this summoner defeated Sin by distancing herself from the corrupt teachings of Yu Yevon and, ended her pilgrimage without sacrificing anyone and herself in the High Summoning ritual.

We all remember the stern and outrageously witty Yuna of Final Fantasy X-2 right? She duped her Summoner get-up, the silky white arm warmers, long clear blue skirt and staff, and metamorphosed into a more dynamic and talkative character that she got from the quirky Rikku.

Here we see her strike a pose as the Gunner Yuna that thwarted Leblanc’s disguise during the early scenarios of Final Fantasy X-2.

Her lip piercing, though not part of the original Gunner Yuna (and all her other dresspheres for that matter), makes this cosplayer hotter and gives more depth to the “what if” scenario. Imagine, Yuna donning the same piercing, eye shadow and tussled, long brown hair of Ms. Remorsefulpromises, the equation more than sums up the frivolous and sharp-witted Yuna of Final Fantasy X-2.

I am totally enamored with Remorsefulpromises’ striking new rendition of Yuna. More to come in the future and next time around, I’ll be interviewing this cosplayer and squeeze out some trivia out from her.

As rare as it is, we were never treated with a sequel for a Final Fantasy game until the release of X-2. The story starts right off the bat, Yuna, now a member of a Sphere Hunter group called as the Gullwings, joins Rikku and Paine in search for spheres which might give clues to the origins of Spira. That’s where the fun started to fade – again you control an airship that has a determined course and Brother is with you, such an annoying, squirmy Al-Bhed!

What was the main reason Enix released X-2? Tidus disappeared and his very existence was a fading dream created by ancient Zanarkand summoners and, X-2 was given birth in order to answer the blitzball ace’s mystery-shrouded life. Wrong. Final Fantasy X-2 took a wrong turn and failed miserably to deliver a classic Final Fantasy game brimming with heart-pounding action. Turn-based combat for a sequel? This was available for the PS2 and, the developers should have revamped the gameplay mechanics – they sure did with another laughable twist.

Dress spheres? Players can shift job classes in the heat of battle and give enemies advantageous punishment they oh-s0 deserve. This was okay but, completing all spheres designated for dress sets is very tedious, and again, a chore. The fanfare was also changed and angered most Final Fantasy tactics – I would like to compare the fanfare to a Gran Turismo Track.

Although gameplay lacks depth and originality, character development boasts an extra-ordinary representation of Yuna, Rikku and Paine. Yuna’s more cheerful now, Rikku is as feisty as ever and Paine, well, was a hybrid between Lulu and Tidus, you get the picture. This trio of Final Fantasy girls is very quirky and unique, in a sense that there is no male playable character available from start to finish. Beyond that, Final Fantasy X-2 never really  outgunned Final Fantasy X in terms of fan appreciation.

So, is this the “worst Final Fantasy game” ever spawned? I need your reactions on this one.
