Final Fantasy XIV Shows No Love For XBox 360
Final Fantasy XIV will be only available for the PlayStation 3 and PC – the limited or “closed” capability of the XBox Live appears cumbersome for the developers of the highly-anticipated MMORPG of the year and, Microsoft has not come into terms on how Final Fantasy XIV would be played on a rather different platform as far as the XBox 360 is concerned.
Is it time for Final Fantasy to go about a new leaf? The XBox 360 did had the honor of being a recipient of the very first FF MMORPG (Final Fantasy XI) and I ask myself: What could’ve made the head honchos of Final Fantasy XI ditch the XBox 360?
According to a report released by creator Hiromichi Tanaka and quote: “Microsoft has a different point of view: they want to have a closed environment for Xbox Live. We’re still talking to… We couldn’t come to an agreement on Xbox Live.”
Final Fantasy XI is available for the XBox 360 and Tanaka didn’t waste his breath elaborating on the two different MMOs. Of course, there is a huge, HUGE discrepancy between Final Fantasy XI and XIV – the roman numerals speak for itself and along with that are perhaps graphical changes and new gameplay implementations which the older XI didn’t have.
Sadly, XBox 360 and Live users are barred from playing the biggest MMO of the year which will be released later this year for the PC and PS3. A very sad for Microsoft.
